Don't Look For Words of Wisdom Here
Sorry. No insight on this site. I mean, hell, what can I, a seriously unpublished writer, tell anyone? Oh, sure, I've got the platitudes memorized: "Write, write, write and read, read, read." And then there's: "It's not the writing, it's the rewriting." And, of course, "Persistence, persistence, persistence." But those don't really help, do they? Cold comfort when you're banging your head against a stack of rejections. How do you know when you're just not good enough? How do you know when to just quit? If you feel like quitting, do so. No one's making you write, and the world is not anxiously awaiting your debut novel. But if the magic of stringing words together lights up something inside you and wakens unknown senses, keep writing. And don't let anyone convince you to stop. |
