Up North Weather Check out the conditions in northwest Michigan courtesy of Other Up North Links Once upon a time, a man wanted to raise cows. This man wasn't your typical farmer, however. This man was president of Sears, Roebuck & Co. What Albert and Anna Loeb built in 1918 is now Castle Farms and is a thing of beauty. For all you chocolate lovers, take a look at what you can buy online from Kilwin's. Mega-yum. Franchise opportunities are available :) One of my favorite restaurants is Grey Gables in Charlevoix. I highly recommend the pan roasted Norwegian salmon - with grain mustard & balsamic glaze atop cherry cous cous & crispy leeks. Outstanding. If you're driving around the Traverse City area with nothing much to do, stop at a few wineries and taste the Michigan Wines. "Excuse me?" you ask. Yes, indeedy, we grow grapes in Michigan and our wines are winning regional, national, and international awards. "Really," you murmur. Yep. Fun fact: northern Michigan's grape growing region has the same latitude as France's Bordeaux region.
For three years running, Nub's Nob has been rated the #1 ski area in the Midwest by SKI magazine. No, it's not the Rockies, and no, it's not the White Mountains. But Nub's is less than an hour from our front door - and our season passes are one of the best recreational investments we've ever made. If you're ever in Petoskey, there are two outstanding bookstores
right downtown; Horizon Books
(stores in Traverse City and Cadillac, too) and McLean and Eakin.
